Wisconsin Public Library Consortium, Resources for Libraries & Lifelong Learning, and WiLS announce that the BadgerLearn project is up and running.
There are several ideas behind the creation of BadgerLearn:
- In creating a place where content is gathered together, we make it easier for library staff to access quality material.
- If we create content geared toward the Wisconsin library community (for services like OverDrive and BadgerLink), we reduce the need for local staff to do what’s already been done elsewhere.
- Sharing is something we’re really good at, and there is a lot of fantastic instructional content out there that’s being developed by libraries & library systems.
Please take a moment & have a look at the site. While you look, keep in mind that the site is still under development. BadgerLearn utilizes an open-source software platform called CWIS, which handles all the database-driven aspects of the site under the hood. The interface is a modified version of a stock template, and is also in-progress: we’d like to know what you think. We’ll be adding a brief tutorial on the homepage soon, which highlights some of the search & browse functionality, as well as how you can get involved in the project. We view this as a great start & hope to continually improve BadgerLearn in response to your feedback, content suggestions, and volunteerism.
We encourage you to visit the “About” page to learn more about BadgerLearn, as well as get contact information for any of the project team members if you’d like to help, or have instructional content like recorded tutorials or resource guides you’d like to share.
Thanks very much,
-The BadgerLearn Project Team
