Support tip: Can't see a title on an i-device

We’ve received a number of support questions lately that go something like this:

I’ve downloaded a title to my iPad/iPhone, but now I can’t see it in the bookshelf.  What gives?

There appears to be a bug in the OverDrive iPhone app that causes this to happen.  The good news?  It’s very easy to fix. The patron just needs to either restart their device or the application.  Here are some more complete instructions, straight from OverDrive:

  1. Double tap the Home button to open up the active apps section.
  2. Tap and Hold on the OMC App until it wiggles and has an X icon.
  3. Tap the X. Icon to force close the app.
  4. Start the OMC app back up.
  5. If the title still does not show up, return to the library site.
  6. Log in to your account and go to the library Bookshelf page.
  7. Tap the download button for the title again.
  8. You should receive a Title Added message.
  9. If you now tap the App’s Bookshelf button (not the library website bookshelf). The title will show up.
