Wisconsin students are now able to log into Wisconsin’s Digital Library from the OverDrive school app, Sora, using a public library card. This feature is available without any action on the part of the public library and the users are subject to the circulation and checkout limits of Wisconsin’s Digital Library. The public library will receive credit for any circulation of those owned materials.
In addition, OverDrive is offering a new program called Public Library CONNECT, which involves allowing students to check out materials from Wisconsin’s Digital Library without using a public library card. This feature will require further discussion by the WPLC Steering Committee and the Wisconsin Schools Digital Library Consortium (WSDLC) before it can be approved.
Messaging about this program has been sent out to schools and public libraries by OverDrive. Because of this, we want to make sure the WPLC community is aware of the feature and this new program.
Once a decision about the Public Library CONNECT program has been decided, we will let you all know.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to the WPLC project managers at wplc-info@wils.org.
